What we do

Your Council is dedicated to improving the quality of life and safety in Maxwell Park
— Jose Dorado, Chair

As an authorized City of Oakland Neighborhood Council the Maxwell Park Neighborhood Council (MPNC) serve as a link between the community and local government.

We provide a platform for neighbors to voice their concerns, share ideas, and actively participate in decision-making processes that shape the neighborhood's future. The MPNC consists of a Board of Directors and a number of Neighborhood Action Teams that address neighborhood concerns such as blight, traffic, emergency preparedness, and beautification. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s voice is heard by our representatives and local leaders.

How We Work

The Council addresses neighborhood concerns and issues via:

  • Bi-monthly meetings with the community, the Oakland Police Department, our City Council Members, and representatives and guest speakers

  • Networking for problem solving, especially utilizing our Neighborhood Action Teams

  • The resources of the neighborhood email group

  • Our access to City resources helps us to improve the quality of life in Maxwell Park
